Apnizan Abdullah holds the LL.B (Honours) and Master of Comparative Laws (MCL) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) obtained in 2003 and 2004 respectively. She pursued her pupillage at Messrs. Mohd Ismail & Co. (as it then was) which specialized in Islamic banking practice. She then continued her legal practice at Messrs Mak Farid & Company. Being passionate in research and teaching, she consequently joined University of Malaya in 2007 until 2010. In 2011, she successfully awarded with the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) from the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF). With the qualifications she has, she subsequently joined the International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) in 2012. In 2014, she obtained her first class degree in Shariah (LL.B (Shariah) from the IIUM. During her university studies, she was awarded with the Best Student Award in Islamic Banking & Takaful in 2003, Deans list certificates for few semesters and Rectors list for her LL.B(Shariah). She has written articles in international journals, ISRA Research Papers and Islamic finance magazines. She has also presented papers at national and international conferences. She has regularly conducted trainings in the area of Islamic financial law organized by local polytechnic institutions, universities, private training institutions and private companies. She currently serves the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia as a Research Fellow.
