On the invitation from Dr Dawood Azami, an Afghan historian and Mr Sayed Isa Gailani, submitted a chapter, ‘The Life and Teachings of Sufis of Afghanistan: Pir Akhundzada Saifur Rahman,’ (3,899 words) to a book titled, Mystics of the Past | Lessons for the Future the Life and Teachings of Sufis of Afghanistan.
  6. Upon the request from Professor Mohamed Ariff, Professor Kamali wrote a foreword (733 words) for his book, ‘The Amazing Qur’an: A Content Analysis’.
  7. Wrote a foreword (527 words) translated into Bahasa Melayu for the book, ‘Perikatan Ulama-Negara: Punca Authoritarianisme dan Kemunduran Dunia Muslim’.

 

Ahmad Badri Abdullah

Publications

  1. Completed an article under the Occasional Paper Series (OPS) entitled, Pandemic and Sustainable Recovery with Circular Economy”.  Co-author: Dr Shahino.
  2. Co-edited with Dr Shahino Mah Abdullah a book compilation of papers presented during the previous International Seminar on Islam and Ecological Sustainability, entitled Islam and Ecological Sustainability” and contributed a chapter entitled ‘Ecological Sustainability: The Role of Shariah in Maintaining Environmental Fitrah’ for the book.
  3. Completed an OPS co-authored with Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohamad Hashim Kamali and Dr Mahbubi Ali entitled: ‘The Shariah Purpose of Contracts and Financial Transactions’.
  4. Published 3 op-ed articles:
    1. ‘How to fix our broken food system’ (27 Jan, NST),
    2. “Insurans Tanaman Perkukuh Sistem Makanan Berdaya Tahan’ (27 Jan, Berita Harian).

Conference and other research activities

  1. Currently, he and Dr Shahino Mah is preparing another OPS for this year entitled “Addressing climate change through greener energy transition” and will be followed by two other PIPs which are research projects in the Science, Technology, Environment and Ethics unit.

  2. Completed an ICR viewpoint entitled Zakat as a Microfinancing Instrument for Asnaf Affected by COVID-19.
  3. He also published three articles:

  4. He finalised two edited books:
    1. Islam and COVID-19: A Multidimensional Perspective
    2. Maqasid al-Shariah in Muamalat and Contracts.

Conference and other research activities

  1. His ongoing research includes two policy issue papers on the use of zakat for financing asnaf affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Shariah perspective on new asset classes.

She is currently working on a PIP entitled "Towards Understanding the Malaysian Educational Blueprint Policy of Initiative of Critical Thinking: A Conceptual Analysis”, writing a book review on Prof Dr Osman Bakar’s Environmental Wisdom for Planet Earth, and planning a research project with Islamic Museum Arts Museum Malaysia.
