The irrational fear of Iran

WITH the Nov 24 deadline for an agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme fast approaching, more and more attention has been cast on Iran’s role in the Middle East and how the West should deal with this problem. So much hype has been made over the idea that Iran could develop nuclear weapons, even though the Islamic Republic insists that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes. Palestine struggles for statehood

THE year 2014 has been designated as an International Year of Solidarity for the Palestinian People. Last year, the General Assembly just barely managed to scrape up enough support to adopt (by a vote of 110 in favour, seven against, and 56 countries abstaining) resolution A/Res/68/12 to proclaim 2014 as Palestine’s year.
