Imran Bin Mohd Rasid

Imran Bin Mohd Rasid is currently pursuing his graduate studies at Ibn Haldun University(IHU) with the department of Political Science and International Relations. He joined the graduate program in October 2023 through the auspicious collaborative scholarship initiative between the International Association of Islamic Studies (IAIS) and IHU.

Prior to this, Imran has been actively involved in social activism and public engagements. He co-founded two NGOs; Imagined Malaysia and University Terbuka Anak Muda (UTAM), and served as an Education Manager at the SDG Academy from 2021 to 2023. The SDG Academy is the educational arm of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN).

Imran’s research interests encompass a broad spectrum of topics including political religion, world history, political economy, and developmental issues in the Global South. Imran has previously contributed to a research project funded by the European Union (GREASE),  focussing on challenges of religious diversity and radicalisation in Malaysia and Southeast Asia,  resulting in several academic journals, book chapters, and country reports. He also writes occasionally for Pondok Siyasah, Dewan Masyarakat, Dewan Ekonomi, and several online news portals, commenting on social issues and global affairs.
