INTRODUCTION
The International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia is pleased to invite you to a public lecture by Professor Mehmet Asutay, a leading scholar of Islamic moral economy and finance. The lecture will explore the concept of Islamic moral economy as a framework for human-centered development that aims to achieve social justice, equality, and a participatory and sharing society.
Professor Asutay will critically examine the current state of Islamic economics and finance and offer insights on how to overcome the challenges and gaps between the ideals and realities of the Islamic moral economy. He will also discuss the recent Madani framework launched by PM Anwar Ibrahim, which is a vision for Malaysia’s development based on the principles of inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience.
He will also explain the Madani economic framework, which is a model for achieving economic growth, social welfare, and environmental protection through Islamic values and institutions. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
