SUMMARY
This will be a presentation on the TPPA viewing from two angles: the institutional angle, and the selected areas of the TPPA that impact Malaysia including government procurement, regulatory conditions and investment. The purpose of the presentation is to develop a balanced perspective on the TPPA, taking into account in particular the divisiveness of the TPPA among both its supporters and opponents.

SPEAKER’S PROFILE
Dr. Haniff Ahamat is an Assistant Professor at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He has been with AIKOL since 2001. He holds an LLB (Hons) from IIUM, an LLM from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a PhD from University of Essex, United Kingdom. He wrote his PhD thesis on the consumer perspectives of Malaysian and EC anti-dumping legislation. He is a non-practising member of the Malaysian Bar.
Dr. Haniff teaches public international law, legal methods and laws of contract at undergraduate level. He also teaches law of the World Trade Organization (WTO), at the masters level.
He has a deep interest in public international law, law of the WTO and competition law. His key publications include articles on the framework and justifications for intra-OIC trade liberalisation, the position of Islamic international law on free trade, and the interface between EC competition and anti-dumping laws.
