Abu Zahrah was one of the leading ulama of the twentieth century who left behind a distinctive legacy of scholarship that gained him international acclaim during his lifetime and ever since. Born on March 19, 1898/1316 A.H, Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Mustafa b. Ahmad, better known as Abu Zahrah, has written over 34 books, and over 100 other works on Islamic law and jurisprudence, Quran commentary, theology, hadith studies, law and society and Arabic literature. He was born and brought up in al-Mahallah al-Kubra, a provincial capital in Lower Egypt in a respectable religious family.
